Certified Sex Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor
My name is Jennive (she/her) and I am a BIPOC, mental health counselor, and a holistic sex therapist. I am the founder and operator of Amethyst Counseling, LLC. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Women and Gender Studies and a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both degrees from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (Go Islanders 🤙🏾). Furthermore, I pursued certification through The Institute for Sex Education & Enlightenment (ISEE) program, culminating in my accreditation as a Certified Holistic Sex Therapist. I am an active member of the American Counseling Association, Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities, and a National Board Certified Counselor. I am deeply passionate about my work and have a natural curiosity for understanding people. I've always felt drawn to the mental health field and feel confident in my ability to help others. I believe my life experiences and education have inevitably guided me to this point, to be here with you.
I have a history of working with and for: humans with sexual health concerns, clinical mental health diagnosis, LGBTQIAP+ community, victims of crimes, emergency department psychiatric assessments for inpatient services, program counselor for geriatric and adult stabilization inpatient units, and children in the foster care system.
My approach to counseling is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-based practices like Sensate Focus, Person-Centered Therapy, but overall an eclectic professional that draws from and integrates multiple theoretical models to best suit your needs . Everyone is unique and their needs will vary so tailoring therapy and your treatment plan to your specific circumstances and preferences is what I do best. I primarily work with adult individuals and relationships residing in Texas via telehealth or virtual services.
